16 th of April the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Komi at the Administration of the President of Russian Federation was hosting a meeting in Moscow with Consultative Committee of Finno-Ugric peoples. The meeting was preceded by a meeting of Coordinators.
Members of the Consultative Committee met in order to discuss the final touches of the preparation for the VII World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples that will be held 15-17 June 2016 in the city of Lahti, Finland. The main topic of the congress will be: ”The Finno-Ugric peoples – towards sustainable development”.
The preparations for the Congress are nearing their last stages. At the meeting, the topics of discussion were work proposals of thematic sessions and open areas that were submitted after a meeting of moderators and keynote speakers on the 8th of February in Moscow. Also the format of the draft outcome documents of the thematic sessions and the resolution of the Congress was discussed. Following issues were discussed and itemized as a plan for the Congress, in particular: thematic meetings, arrival and departure arrangements of delegations, proposals from delegations on organizing exhibitions and events representing Finno-Ugric peoples’ achievements in the field of preservation of their languages and cultures. It was proposed to introduce novelties of educational native language literature and also all sorts of training aids, which went out after the last Congress in Siofok (Hungary).
Previous congresses were opened with speeches of representatives of peoples’ delegations reporting on the most important events in their lives that have taken place since the last Congress. For the VII World Congress, the peoples’ delegations have been proposed to present such information in writing in the native and official languages of the Congress (no more than 2 pages of text), which will be then posted on the Congress website and presented to all participants of the Forum inclusive to the Congress materials. The organizers will be able to propagate it to the Congress participants upon its reception before 15th of May.
