A seminar of the project ” NGO:s role in preserving Finno-Ugric Languages and Cultures” was held in Khanty-Mansiisk, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Yugra, Russia 28-31 October 2015. The project is realised between 2013-2016 by Finland-Russia Society and Russian partner organisations, and is financed by Kone Foundation and Ministry of Education and Culture (Finland). This time project´s seminar was a part of forum ”Finno-Ugric encounters in Yugra”, which celebrated 20th anniversary of MOOUN, (Youth Organisation of Ob-Ugric Peoples.)
During the project is organised training sessions for Finno-Ugric NGO:s in Russia and Finland. The seminars are held in Republics of Carelia and Komi (year 2013), Mordovia and Udmurtia (2014) and Mari El and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. The final session will take place in Lahti, Finland 15-17 June 2016, at the same time with the 7th World Congress of the Finno-Ugric Peoples.
In Khanty-Mansiisk 45 NGO-participants - who represented 15 different Finno-Ugric peoples - came to know the language and culture situation in Yugra. As well were discussed interregional project, planned by participants and the tematics of upcoming World Congress. The results of fruitful discussions are forwarded for Consultative Committee of Finno-Ugric Peoples as well as for organisators of Congress.
